Woman loses gold worth Rs. 15 lakhs while traveling to Hyderabad on Sri Krishna Travels bus
Hyderabad: A woman traveling aboard a Sri Krishna Travels bus from Mandapeta to Hyderabad lost gold ornaments worth Rs. 15 lakhs in a theft incident on November 8, 2024. The theft came to light when the bus made a stop at a tea stall in Narketpally, where the woman realized her jewelry was missing.
According to the police information, the theft occurred during the bus journey, but the exact time of the incident remains unclear. The woman noticed the loss only when the bus halted at Narketpally. After realizing her jewelry was stolen, the woman and the bus driver immediately contacted local authorities. Although Chityala Police Station was closer to the incident site, they proceeded to Abdullapurmet Police Station in Hyderabad.
At Abdullapurmet Police Station, around 40 passengers were verified for several hours as police conducted a thorough investigation. Authorities checked all passengers’ belongings but did not find the stolen gold ornaments.
A police official told Hyderabad Mail, “The woman realized her gold jewelry was missing when the bus stopped at Narketpally. We verified all 40 passengers on board and checked their bags, but no stolen items were found.”
The bus had made an earlier stop in Vijayawada before reaching Narketpally. Following the theft, the woman and the bus driver returned to Vijayawada in search of the missing gold ornaments. The police are continuing to investigate the matter.
