Hyderabad: A married woman who approached Hayathnagar police station to lodge a complaint against her husband for theft has accused the Sub-Inspector (SI) of harassing her on the guise of helping resolve her issue.

According to the complaint, the victim went to the police station to file a case against her husband for allegedly stealing three tolas of gold and Rs. 2 lakh and subjected her to harassment. She claimed that the SI Saidulu exploited her vulnerable situation, making repeated unwanted phone calls and inappropriate advances over a period of 40 days.

The complainant said the police official assured her that he would register her complaint but demanded her to visit his house alone to ‘fulfill his wish’. She added that the SI kept calling her on WhatsApp and also threatened her to remain silent about the harassment. Eventually, the victim mustered the courage and reported the matter to Rachakonda Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu. Following her complaint, the Commissioner ordered an inquiry into the allegations.
