Hyderabad: The Telangana government and Wipro Limited have strengthened their collaboration to boost the state’s technology sector with the announcement of Wipro’s new IT campus in Gopanpally, Hyderabad. The expansion, expected to be completed in 2-3 years, will create 5,000 direct and indirect jobs. This development further reinforces Telangana’s position as a key IT investment hub.

The partnership was reaffirmed during a meeting at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos, where Wipro’s Executive Chairman, Rishad Premji, met with Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy Anumula and IT & Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu.

“Wipro is a strategic partner in our growth, and we’re excited to create more opportunities here,” said Rishad Premji. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy welcomed the development, expressing the state’s commitment to supporting major corporations like Wipro to drive economic growth. Minister Sridhar Babu highlighted Wipro’s contributions to workforce development and invited the company to collaborate on various skilling initiatives, including the Young India Skills University.

In another significant move, Telangana has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with JSW UAV Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Defence, to establish a state-of-the-art Unmanned Aerial Systems manufacturing facility. This initiative marks a key step in Telangana’s efforts to become a hub for advanced technology and defence innovation. Chief Minister Revanth Reddy highlighted the state’s strategic vision, saying, “Telangana is becoming a leader in manufacturing across multiple sectors, including semiconductors, defence, private space, and FMCG.”

Minister Sridhar Babu expressed optimism about the project, saying, “This agreement will set a trend in the sector. We are committed to making Telangana India’s biggest manufacturing hub.”
