Water found in cooking oil can ordered via app, Medchal resident alleges

HYDERABAD: A resident of Medchal has alleged that he received water instead of cooking oil in a 5-litre can ordered through a quick-commerce platform in Chengicherla, under Boduppal limits.
Sharath Yadav said he had ordered a Freedom cooking oil can via the Zepto app. Upon opening the sealed container, he claimed it contained water instead of edible oil.
Yadav alleged that despite raising the issue through the app, he received no response from the company. He said he is now planning to approach the consumer court and file a police complaint.
Customer alleges product mismatch after sealed delivery
Yadav maintained that the product appeared sealed at the time of delivery, raising concerns about quality checks and supply chain handling.
He said, “There was no response from the app even after multiple attempts to report the issue.”
Legal options being considered over alleged service failure
The complainant stated that he intends to initiate legal proceedings, citing deficiency in service and potential consumer rights violations.
There was no immediate response from the company regarding the allegation at the time of filing this report.
