These drivers bemourn that the prices for water tankers have remained stagnant for years, making it increasingly challenging to sustain their livelihoods.
Challenges on the Road for the Tanker Drivers
“We are not able to make more than 10 trips a day, and traffic police are taking our photos for violations,” one driver shares, illustrating the hurdles they face in meeting the soaring demand for water delivery. The logistical challenges aggravate as customers often request deliveries to unreachable areas and narrow lanes, further straining the already limited resources of these tanker drivers.
The plight of tanker drivers underscores the multifaceted nature of the water crisis in Hyderabad. As residents clamor for more water tankers to alleviate their parched conditions, the drivers themselves confront the harsh realities of their profession. With demand surging and resources stretched thin, the issue of tanker fees emerges as a critical point of contention in addressing the water scarcity gripping the city.
Drivers say-Kondapur, SriRam Nagar, Siddiq nagar, Ayyappa society, Hafeezpet and the neighbouring places has water shortage in hyderabad and has almost zero ground level water and No bores are working due to the summer.
While people demand more tankers, tanker drivers demand higher fees.
