Warangal chilli fetches ₹37,100 per quintal

WARANGAL: The Wonder Hot variety of chilli fetched a record price at the Enumamula Agricultural Market in Warangal on Wednesday, drawing attention from traders and farmers alike.
R Vinod, a farmer from Neelampalli village in Palimela mandal of Jayashankar Bhupalpally district, brought the produce to the market. During the open auction, the chilli realised a maximum price of ₹37,100 per quintal.
Bhagyalakshmi Enterprises purchased the lot through Kirtana Aasti, according to market officials.
Market secretary Mallesham said the rate was the highest recorded for the variety in recent years. He pointed out that in 2022, the same variety had touched ₹39,000 per quintal, and that the current price was the highest since then.
Officials said the price reflected demand for the Wonder Hot variety in the market.
