WARANGAL: The Anti-Corruption Bureau on Thursday arrested a Sub Inspector of Police and a private person for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹15,000 in Warangal.

According to an ACB press note, P Srikanth, Sub Inspector of Police at Kakatiya University Campus police station under the Warangal Police Commissionerate, was caught red-handed at around 17.50 IST on January 8, 2026. The bribe was allegedly accepted through Md Nazeer, a private person identified as the officer’s driver, at KU junction.

The ACB said the money was demanded for “doing an official favour”, including issuing notices to the complainant, facilitating early filing of the charge sheet, and securing the release of seized vehicles and mobile phones.

The tainted amount of ₹15,000 was recovered from the possession of Nazeer at his instance. The ACB said the officer had performed his duties “improperly and dishonestly” to obtain undue advantage.

Both the accused were arrested and produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Warangal. The case is under investigation. The identity of the complainant has been withheld for security reasons.

In a public appeal, the ACB urged citizens to report any demand for bribes by public servants through its toll-free number 1064. Complaints can also be lodged via WhatsApp at 94404 46106, Facebook page ‘Telangana ACB’, and X handle @TelanganaACB. The bureau said the identity of complainants would be kept confidential.
