WARANGAL: The desi chilli variety fetched a record ₹50,000 per quintal in the current season at the Enumamula Agricultural Market in Warangal.

Ravindar Rao of Pullurupalli village in Jayashankar Bhupalpally district brought nine bags of chillies to the market. Ambika Company and Addi Shanti Industries purchased the produce, paying ₹50,000 per quintal.

Highest price recorded this season

The same variety was sold at ₹36,000 per quintal recently. On Friday, it touched a season high of ₹50,000 per quintal, said market senior grade secretary R. Mallesham.

Around 300 bags of the desi chilli variety arrived at the market on Friday. The maximum price was ₹50,000 per quintal, the minimum ₹18,000, and the modal price ₹30,000 per quintal, he added.
