Vishnu Marg road damage disrupts daily commute

HYDERABAD: Potholes and sewage leaks have turned Vishnu Marg, a key road linking Khaitlapur with Madhapur, into a hazardous stretch, disrupting daily travel for commuters.
Potholes and sewage water choke traffic
Large craters filled with sewage-mixed stagnant water, broken tar layers and exposed gravel have made the road difficult to navigate. Motorists are forced to slow down sharply or swerve to avoid getting stuck, increasing the risk of accidents.
In several stretches, leaking drainage has flooded the carriageway, creating slush pools that two-wheelers and cars are compelled to pass through. Concrete dividers have further reduced manoeuvring space, restricting traffic to narrow usable patches.
Evening rush worsens the situation
Traffic congestion intensifies during evening peak hours as office-goers, school buses and college students use the road in large numbers. Residents said the stretch becomes nearly unmotorable after dark due to poor visibility and water filled potholes.
Two-wheelers were seen skidding while cars crawled through deep craters, triggering long queues and frequent bottlenecks. Though temporary barricades have been placed at some points, no active repair work was visible.
Residents demand permanent repairs
Locals and commuters said repair works were carried out recently, but the road deteriorated again within weeks. “The same patches keep collapsing. Drainage leaks are never fixed properly, and fresh tar washes away,” commuters said.
With stagnant water accumulating along the stretch, residents also raised concerns over hygiene and mosquito breeding. They have urged the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation to take up comprehensive resurfacing and permanent drainage repairs, stating that repeated temporary patchwork has failed on this crucial urban link.
