Vikarabad women police officials caught in bribery case

HYDERABAD: A bribery allegation involving women police officials in Vikarabad district has come to light after an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) operation led to their apprehension during the alleged acceptance of bribe money.
Complaint over family dispute case handling
The case surfaced after a complaint was filed regarding a personal family dispute, which was reportedly registered under Section 498A of the Indian Penal Code.
Councillor Irshad alleged that his family issue was misrepresented and converted into a criminal case. He further claimed that police officials demanded bribes in the name of granting station bail.
Alleged demand of ₹60,000
According to the complaint, ₹10,000 per person was demanded, amounting to a total of ₹60,000. The demand was allegedly made at the Vikarabad Women’s Police Station.
Unable to tolerate the alleged corruption demand, the complainant informed the authorities concerned.
ACB trap and action
Acting on the information, the ACB conducted a trap operation during which officials were allegedly caught while accepting bribe money.
ACB Deputy Superintendent of Police Anand Kumar confirmed the operation and said action was taken based on credible inputs.
Allegations of systemic corruption
Councillor Irshad stated that the incident was not an isolated case and described it as part of a broader fight against corruption. He also claimed he had earlier helped bring at least five corrupt officials before law enforcement authorities.
He urged citizens to come forward with complaints against corruption, assuring that the law would support those who report such cases.
