Senior assistant caught taking Rs. 8,000 bribe in Vikarabad excise office

Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Ranga Reddy Unit, caught T. Sridhar, senior assistant in the District Prohibition and Excise Office, Vikarabad, while accepting a bribe of ₹8,000. The incident occurred at around 4:20 PM on Friday.
According to the officials, Sridhar had demanded the bribe from a complainant to process a Travel Allowance (TA) bill. The bribe amount was recovered from him, and a chemical test confirmed the presence of bribe traces on his right hand fingers.
He has been arrested and will be produced before the Ist Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases at Nampally, Hyderabad. The case is under investigation.
In April 2025, ACB Telangana registered 21 cases/enquiries. These included 13 trap cases, 2 disproportionate assets cases, 2 criminal misconduct cases, 2 regular enquiries, and 2 surprise checks. Twenty public servants were arrested and remanded to judicial custody, and ₹5,02,000 was recovered in bribe traps.
In one assets case, disproportionate assets worth ₹3,51,06,759 were unearthed. Another case involving assets of ₹13,50,000 is currently under investigation.
