Gaming and driving? Hyderabad cab driver’s video sparks road safety debate
Hyderabad: A video of a cab driver reportedly playing a video game behind the wheels in Hyderabad has surfaced on Reddit social network, sparking widespread outrage.
The video footage, apparently filmed by a passenger in the back seat, shows the driver playing a video game while struggling to manage the steering wheel with one hand and the mobile phone with another.
The viral clip posted on a subreddit r/hyderabad quickly caught the eye of Redditors who made sarcastic comments below the post.
“Omg, this guy is literally gaming while driving. I also had once encountered an idiot who is gaming, driving his scooty on the wrong route and asking the pedestrians to give way for him,” a user responded.
“I can’t even focus at home when I play game, this guy driving and putting other lives risk for “GAME” ??” wrote by another user.
Other users commented that the OP should alert the ride-hailing services like Uber and Ola and get him suspended from driving a four-wheeler.
“What is he?? Gaming and driving??
Send this video to Ola and Uber and ask for a speed reply. Also share the Cab number plate so the driver can be suspended from such emotional and dangerous driving. And the car owner will receive a feedback with the video as evidence”
“Yuh once my driver started watched reels on YouTube, he stopped when I confronted,” wrote another.
The OP, who recorded and uploaded the video on Reddit, replied to a comment and said he told the user to focus on the road and even threatened to report him to Uber, however, the driver ignored his warning and continued with the gaming activity.
“I did, i showed him the video and warned him if he use the phone again i’m going to report it to the uber,” the OP replied.
It is not clear when and where the video was filmed. However, the reckless driving of the cabbie has once again triggered a discussion online about the road safety guidelines and responsible driving on the road.
