Dandiya Events in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: Raising the bogey of “love jihad”, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) has expressed concerns over the participation of non-Hindus in Dandiya events during Navratri and Bathukamma celebrations in the Hyderabad city.

In a statement issued on Sunday, National Spokesperson Dr Ravinuthala Shashidhar claimed that non-Hindu youngsters gain entry into the Dandiya programmes held across the city and target the Hindu girls to carry out alleged “love jihad”.

Launching a scathing attack on the Hyderabad, Cyberabad, and Rachakonda Police commissionerates, Shashidhar claimed the police force is not doing enough to stop such people from participating in the Hindus festivities. He recommended the police officials to make verification of Aadhaar cards mandatory for all participants at Dandiya events to prevent Hindu girls from falling into the trap of alleged “love jihad”.

Highlighting the commercialization of cultural festival, the VHP leader called the police to withdraw its permissions to pubs, clubs and private
Function halls alleging the Hindu girls were attacked by the Muslim bouncers at these places. He added that police would be held responsible for any untoward incident at these events.
