Vemula Prashanth Reddy slams Revanth Reddy conduct in Assembly

HYDERABAD: Bharat Rashtra Samithi MLA Vemula Prashanth Reddy on Saturday alleged that the functioning style of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy had been witnessed across the country, including by Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar.
Question Hour conduct draws fire
Speaking to reporters, Prashanth Reddy said the Chief Minister spoke for nearly 90 minutes during Question Hour, which he claimed had no precedent in the Assembly’s history. He alleged that the House was being run like Gandhi Bhavan and that the Chief Minister spoke at will without responding to public issues.
He accused the Chief Minister of making remarks wishing death upon former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao and of body shaming former minister Harish Rao, instead of giving answers. He further alleged that the Chief Minister made offensive comments against Harish Rao.
‘Microphone denied for criticism’
Prashanth Reddy claimed that the Speaker said microphones would not be given if the Chief Minister was criticised. He questioned the propriety of such proceedings and asked whether legislators were expected to attend the Assembly only to praise the Chief Minister.
He said the BRS boycotted the Assembly in protest and demanded that microphones be allotted to the Opposition in future sessions.
PowerPoint debate revived
Recalling 2016, Prashanth Reddy said Congress legislators had skipped a PowerPoint presentation by K Chandrashekar Rao and had written a letter then, calling such presentations undemocratic. He alleged that the present government’s use of PowerPoint presentations reflected double standards.
He said that if given an opportunity, they would attend the Assembly even at the cost of facing insults, solely to speak on public issues.
