Smoke From Vemuri Kaveri Travels Bus on Pedda Amberpet Flyover

HYDERABAD: A Vemuri Kaveri Travels bus experienced another safety scare on Monday when smoke emerged from its tyres on the Pedda Amberpet flyover in Ranga Reddy district.

Officials said the bus (registration PY 04 A 2542) was travelling from Hyderabad to Srikakulam when it overheated, causing smoke to rise from the rear tyres.
The driver immediately stopped the vehicle on the flyover and asked passengers to step out as a precaution.
Passengers stranded for an hour in freezing cold
Around 26 passengers were left waiting on the roadside for nearly an hour in severe cold as the issue was being checked.
Several passengers said the operator did not respond promptly despite repeated calls.
Passengers say management did not care
Travellers alleged that the Vemuri Kaveri Travels management “did not bother” to assist them quickly. An alternative bus was arranged later, police said.
