Seven arrested in forged property documents case in Vanasthalipuram

HYDERABAD: Police arrested seven people in connection with a forgery and cheating case involving fabricated property documents at Vanasthalipuram police station limits under the Malkajgiri commissionerate.
The case was registered as Crime No. 395/2026 under Sections 338, 336(3), 340(2), 316(2), 318(4) read with Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Police identified the arrested accused as Vallala Prem Kumar, Kotla Nagendra Prasad, Yelmati Sukumar Reddy, Indurthi Krishna Reddy, Muppalla Sujatha, Nalavalli Balamani and Talari Sulochana. Another accused, identified as Surya, is absconding.
Fake certificates allegedly used to claim land
According to police, the main accused Prem Kumar, Nagendra Prasad and Sukumar Reddy allegedly created forged documents including a death certificate, family certificate and legal heir certificate by impersonating women and luring them with money.
Investigators said the accused also prepared a fake sale deed registered as Document No. 645/1987 at the Sub-Registrar Office (SRO) in Vanasthalipuram.
Using the forged documents, the group allegedly cheated complainant Garimella Kameshwar Rao in connection with an open plot bearing No. 232, measuring 400 sq yd. The land is located in Survey Nos. 60, 74, 75 and 76 at Munuganoor village in Abdullapurmet mandal of Ranga Reddy district.
Police said the accused carried out the fraud with the assistance of other co-accused.
Mobile phones, laptop seized during probe
During the investigation, police seized five smartphones, a Dell laptop and the forged sale deed linked to the case.
Officials said Prem Kumar was previously involved in 10 similar cases, while Nagendra Prasad and Sukumar Reddy had earlier been involved in eight and three cases respectively.
The arrests were made by Vanasthalipuram police under the supervision of LB Nagar zone deputy commissioner of police B. Anuradha. Additional deputy commissioner of police Koteshwar Rao, assistant commissioner of police P. Kasi Reddy, inspector T. Mahesh and sub-inspector D. Nagaraju were part of the team.
Police said further investigation is underway.
