Uttam warns defaulting millers over ₹ 6,630 crore paddy
HYDERABAD: Rice millers in Telangana have yet to return 28.22 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth ₹ 6,630.74 crore to the state government, civil supplies minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy said at a review meeting of the department.
From 2014, when Telangana was formed, to 2025, millers failed to return 59.95 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth ₹ 13,399.71 crore that was due to the government under custom milling arrangements.
State recovers paddy and dues worth ₹ 6,768.97 crore
Following warnings and recovery measures by the civil supplies department, the government recovered 31.73 lakh metric tonnes of paddy or an equivalent amount, together valued at ₹ 6,768.97 crore.
However, 28.22 lakh metric tonnes of paddy worth ₹ 6,630.74 crore is still due from millers.
Uttam warns of vigilance raids and criminal cases
