Uppal Skywalk: Students stuck in lift for over 45 minutes, no help until police intervened

Hyderabad:  In a nightmarish situation, three students, two girls and a boy got stuck in a lift at the Uppal skywalk for more than 45 minutes. The students got out of the situation only after the police intervened, upon dialing the emergency number 100.

The videos of the students explaining their harrowing experience has gone viral on social media, as reportedly, this is the first time such a situation has happened at the Uppal sky walk.

A student who was traveling from Habsiguda to Uppal in a video said that, “We were struck in the lift and nobody has come to our rescue, despite calling to the emergency numbers available.” Further, as a last hope, the students have dialed 100 seeking help from the Telangana Police to get out of this situation, as there was no response from the number that was given in the response team.

Another student, who was also stuck in the lift said that with the presence of power supply, they could breathe comfortably without any issue. The student also added that “none of the skywalk staff has come to them for the rescue.” The students have also thanked the police for their timely intervention and the rescue efforts.

Cops timely intervention

Police intervened and along with the help of technicians, they broke open the lift and rescued the students. Uppal Inspector, Sridhar P speaking to the media said that they have come to the place of incident, after receiving the information from the victims. “The condition of the students was okay, but there was no access for them to come out of the lift. They got stuck for more than 45 minutes before we rescued them. The lift has come down to the ground floor but the door was not opened for them to come out.”
