Uppal police arrest two accused within six hours in Chilkanagar murder case

HYDERABAD: Uppal police arrested two men within six hours for allegedly murdering a 30-year-old man after a dispute in the Chilkanagar area on March 15, 2026.
Police acted after Kanupur Srikanth, a hotel worker from Medipally, filed a complaint.
Phone call alerted family
Srikanth told police that at around 20.37 IST, he received a call from Prithviraj alias Tillu. Tillu informed him about a quarrel between his brother-in-law Paruvula Sudheer Kumar and Banothu Santosh in Chilkanagar.
Srikanth rushed to the spot. He found Sudheer Kumar lying on the road in a pool of blood. The victim had already died by the time he reached.
Dispute before housewarming event
Police said Sudheer Kumar had known the accused for several years.
Three days earlier, Sudheer invited them to a housewarming ceremony at his brother-in-law’s house.
However, Sudheer allegedly did not respond to their phone and WhatsApp calls on the day of the event. This triggered an argument between them.
Accused called victim to meeting spot
On March 15 at around 19.30 IST, Banothu Santosh alias Santhu, 28, a Rapido rider from Uppal, and Podishetty Tarun, 22, a car driver from Uppal, allegedly called Sudheer to the Chilkanagar ground.
Sudheer reached the spot on a motorcycle along with his friend Imran Khan.
When Sudheer questioned Santosh about abusive remarks, Santosh allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked him.
Victim chased and stabbed
Sudheer tried to escape from the spot. However, the accused chased him and stabbed him multiple times. He collapsed on the road and died on the spot.
