Uppal pipeline repairs remain on schedule
HYDERABAD: Repair works on the 1,600 mm MS gravity main pipeline of the Krishna Drinking Water Supply Project Phase II, Ring Main-2 at Uppal Junction are progressing as scheduled, the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) said.
Major repair works set for completion by midnight
The Water Board said officials, engineers and field staff are continuously monitoring the works to ensure they are completed within the scheduled time. The main repair works are expected to be completed by Monday midnight, following which pipeline restoration and line-filling operations will begin.
Junction works on both sides of the 1,600 mm pipeline are in progress and are expected to finish by midnight. After their completion, restoration of the pipeline and line filling will be taken up.
Of the seven 300 mm sluice valves planned for installation, six have already been installed. Work on the remaining valve is under way.
Valve replacement work also under way
Replacement of the damaged 300 mm air valve extension pipe on the 1,600 mm pipeline near Uppal Stadium is also in progress. The Water Board said this work is expected to be completed by midnight.
HMWSSB Managing Director K. Ashok Reddy reviewed the progress with officials and directed them to complete the repairs at the earliest and restore drinking water supply to the affected areas. He instructed officials and staff to work in coordination and avoid any delay so that the project is completed within the stipulated deadline.
The Water Board said all works are progressing according to schedule. Water will be released into the pipeline after completion of the repairs on Tuesday morning, and drinking water supply to the affected areas will be restored in phases.
