HYDERABAD:  The 6.2-km Uppal–Narapally elevated corridor is scheduled for completion by October 2026, with roads and buildings (R&B) officials stating that work has gathered pace after the executing agency was finalised and court cases were resolved.

Officials said labour deployment has increased for installing iron spans, which make up a significant component of the pending structure. “All issues have been resolved and the contractor has agreed to complete the work by the new deadline. He is sticking to the original plan, so there is no price escalation,” a senior R&B official said.

The project, estimated at ₹600 crore, was launched in 2018 after Union minister Nitin Gadkari laid the foundation stone. Once completed, the six-lane flyover will be the second-longest in Telangana after the P.V. Narasimha Rao Expressway.

Officials said about 50% of the work has been completed. Land acquisition is nearly over except for one religious structure. “The Collector is negotiating the matter,” the official added.

To reduce inconvenience to commuters, authorities have begun recarpeting stretches along the corridor. In November, R&B minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy directed state officials, the Union ministry of road transport and highways, and the executing agency to strictly adhere to project timelines.

Acting on these directions, the department has taken up blacktop (BT) road works along the Uppal–Warangal stretch to relieve congestion for daily commuters and for devotees headed towards Medaram. Of the planned 5.5-km stretch, 1.5 km of the new BT road has been completed. The minister said the entire stretch would be ready before the commencement of the Medaram Jatara.
