Golden Foods Osmania Biscuits Unit Gets Improvement Notice After Food Safety Inspection

HYDERABAD: Food safety officials have recommended an improvement notice for Golden Foods’ manufacturing unit, which produces Osmania Biscuits in Uppal, after finding several hygiene and food safety lapses during a routine inspection.
Inspection finds hygiene and storage issues
Food Safety Officers inspected the manufacturing unit as part of routine food safety checks. They found poor lighting inside the premises and noted the absence of insect-proof meshes.
Officials also found a heavy housefly infestation. The unit had not maintained pest control records, raising concerns about sanitation.
Poor hygiene among food handlers
Inspectors observed poor personal hygiene among food handlers. They also found that workers stored raw materials improperly. Bread manufacturing and packaging took place in unhygienic conditions, according to the inspection report.
Officials recommend improvement notice
Based on the findings, food safety officials recommended issuing an improvement notice. They directed the unit to fix all deficiencies and comply with Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) food safety norms.
