Hyderabad University conducts Preclinical Drug Discovery workshop; Check how to apply
Hyderabad: The Skill Development Centre at the School of Life Sciences, University of Hyderabad, is set to conduct a Preclinical Drug Discovery Workshop in two sessions. The workshops will take place from October 21 to 25, 2024 (Batch 1) and November 18 to 22, 2024 (Batch 2).
This intensive workshop aims to provide advanced training in drug discovery and the identification of lead or hit molecules. Participants will gain hands-on experience in various aspects of preclinical drug discovery, including animal cell culture, cytotoxicity and viability assays, apoptosis assays, and cell cycle analysis. The programme will enable attendees to plan and execute preclinical drug discovery projects while effectively interpreting and presenting their data.
Target audience: The workshop is designed for postgraduate and PhD students, faculty members, scientists, and industry professionals across all branches of Life Sciences.
Capacity: Each batch will accommodate a limited number of 10 participants to ensure personalised instruction and engagement.
Methodology: The workshop will feature a combination of classroom lectures and practical laboratory sessions focused on in vitro techniques.
Course fees: Students: Rs. 10,000/-
Faculty and industry professionals: Rs. 15,000/-
(Note: Boarding, lodging, and food charges are extra. Shared hostel accommodation will be provided based on availability in the University Hostel/Guest House.)

Introduction to Molecular Modelling: CADD & SBDD
Fundamentals of Animal Cell Culture
Cytotoxicity Assays: IC50 & Mechanisms of Cell Death
Operation and Setup of Flow Cytometers
Data Analysis, Statistics, Interpretation, and Presentation
Resource faculty: The workshop will be led by esteemed experts Dr. M.K. Arunasree and Dr. Aparna Vema.
