IIT Hyderabad tops Telangana with 12th overall in India Rankings 2024

Hyderabad: Union Minister for Education Dharmendra Pradhan on August 12, 2024, unveiled the India Rankings 2024, which are based on the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) developed by the Ministry of Education in 2015.

Rankings of Education Institutions in Telangana

In the overall rankings, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad achieved a score of 66.69, securing the 12th position nationwide. It was followed by the University of Hyderabad, which scored 60.55 and attained the 25th rank. Osmania University was placed 52nd with a score of 52.02, while the National Institute of Technology Warangal scored 53.74, earning the 53rd rank.

In the university rankings category, the University of Hyderabad ranked 17th with a score of 62.18. Osmania University was positioned 43rd, scoring 54.69. The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad secured the 74th spot with a score of 48.32.

For research institutions, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad ranked 15th with a score of 59.96. The University of Hyderabad achieved the 28th rank with a score of 51.90.

In engineering, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad ranked 8th with a score of 71.55. The International Institute of Information Technology Hyderabad was 47th with a score of 54.29, while the University of Hyderabad scored 49.30, placing it 70th. Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University from Telangana ranked 88th with a score of 45.78.

In management, the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad was ranked 39th with a score of 55.31. The National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management was 96th with a score of 43.17. The Institute of Management Technology was 97th with a score of 43.01, and the National Institute of Technology Warangal ranked 100th with a score of 42.63.

In pharmacy, the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Hyderabad achieved the 2nd rank with a score of 80.29. Anurag University scored 44.22, ranking 71st, while Vishnu Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research in Narsapur was 87th with a score of 41.19. Kakatiya University Hanamkonda, Warangal scored 41.15, ranking 88th, and CMR College of Pharmacy in Rangareddy was 95th with a score of 40.51.

In medical rankings, Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad achieved the 48th position with a score of 50.99.

For dental rankings, the Army College of Dental Sciences in Secunderabad secured the 40th position with a score of 49.38.

In law, the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, Hyderabad was ranked 36th with a score of 49.87.

In the innovation category, the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad was ranked 3rd among ten institutes.

Among state public universities, Osmania University stood 6th with a score of 67.20.

No institutions from Telangana were listed in the Indian Rankings 2024 for Architecture and Planning, Agriculture and Allied Sectors, Open University, and Skill University.

Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, addressing the audience, said that rankings, ratings, and accreditation are crucial components of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. He expressed his satisfaction that the NIRF rankings reflect the essence of the NEP. He congratulated the higher education institutions that have excelled in teaching, innovation, research, and other parameters, securing prestigious positions in the India Rankings 2024.

Sitharam, NETF Chairman Prof. Anil Sahasrabuddhe, NBA Member Secretary Dr. Anil Kumar Nassa, Additional Secretary of the Department of Higher Education Shri Sunil Kumar Barnwal, Joint Secretary Shri Govind Jaiswal, and other academicians and heads of institutions attended the event.
