UK Parliament to present Lifetime Achievement Award to actor Chiranjeevi on March 19

Hyderabad: Actor Megastar Chiranjeevi is currently busy filming his upcoming project Vishwambhara, but he will soon be honored with a significant recognition. The veteran actor has been selected to receive the prestigious UK Parliament Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contributions to cinema and society over the past four decades.
The award will be presented to Chiranjeevi on March 19 at the UK Parliament (House of Commons), London. The announcement was made by Navendu Mishra, a member of the UK’s Labour Party, who will be presenting the award. Other notable figures, including MPs Sojan Joseph and Bob Blackman, are expected to attend the ceremony.
The Lifetime Achievement Award will be given by Bridge India, a UK-based organization dedicated to shaping public policy and recognizing exceptional individuals for their impact on the community. This marks the first time Bridge India will present this award, with Chiranjeevi being its inaugural recipient. The award acknowledges his excellence in cultural leadership and contributions to cinema, public service, and philanthropy.
This honor adds another milestone to Chiranjeevi’s illustrious career. In 2024, he was conferred the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award. He also received the ANR National Award from the Akkineni International Foundation to commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of legendary actor Akkineni Nageswara Rao. Additionally, Chiranjeevi was recognized with a Guinness World Record for his achievements as an actor and dancer.
Born on August 22, 1955, as Konidela Sivasankara Varaprasad Rao in Mogalthur, Andhra Pradesh, Chiranjeevi is one of the most influential figures in Telugu cinema. He holds the record for the most “Industry Hits” in Telugu films, with eight movies emerging as top-grossers during their time. His extensive career includes a blend of commercial successes and critically acclaimed performances.
Chiranjeevi made his acting debut in 1978, and his breakthrough came in 1983 with the film Khaidi. He went on to star in several landmark films, including Pasivadi Pranam (1987), Yamudiki Mogudu (1988), Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari (1990), and Indra (2002), among many others.
Beyond his film career, Chiranjeevi has been involved in social causes. In 1998, he founded the Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust, which runs the largest blood and eye banks in the Telugu states. His philanthropic efforts have helped restore eyesight to over 9,000 individuals, and the trust provides free blood to the needy.
