Police rescue two Ugandan women from Locanto-based prostitution racket in Nacharam, Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: Two Ugandan women were rescued from an online prostitution racket being run through the Locanto app during a raid by the Anti-Human Trafficking Unit (AHTU) of Rachakonda Police along with Nacharam Police on November 6, 2025.

Police said the raid, conducted in Bhavani Nagar under Nacharam police station limits, was based on credible information about human trafficking. The team rescued the two women and arrested a customer, identified as Sampath Kumar Mohite, 59, a government postal employee residing at Sri Nilaya Township, Badangpet, Ranga Reddy district.

Organizer absconding

The main accused, identified as Daniel, who allegedly organised the prostitution ring, is absconding. Police said he was running an online brothel through Locanto, posting photos of the victims to attract clients and collecting money via cash and UPI transactions.

Seized property

Police seized ₹8,050 in cash, ₹1,500 received via Google Pay, six mobile phones and two condoms from the premises.

A case has been registered under relevant sections of law and further investigation is underway.

The operation was conducted under the supervision of G Sudheer Babu, IPS, Commissioner of Police, Rachakonda, and guidance of Md Shakir Hussain, ADCP (SOT LB Nagar–Maheshwaram Division), along with S Devender, Inspector (AHTU Rachakonda), and K Dhanunjaya, Inspector (Nacharam Police Station).
