Hyderabad: Shamshabad police arrested two students on Monday, February 17, 2025, for performing dangerous stunts in luxury SUVs on the Outer Ring Road (ORR) in Hyderabad.

On February 9, CCTV footage captured a Toyota Fortuner performing donuts (spinning in circles using the handbrake) in the middle lane of the five-lane ORR. A BMW was also seen executing similar maneuvers on the side of the road.

Although the drivers had removed the number plates to avoid identification, their faces were clearly visible on the CCTV cameras.

The police identified and arrested the suspects, Mohammed Obaidullah (25) from Rajendranagar and Zohair Siddiqui (25) from Malakpet, on Monday. The police also seized the luxury vehicles.

This incident comes despite ongoing police efforts to curb risky stunts on the city’s roads. Videos of the stunt, which occurred in the early hours of February 9, 2025, surfaced on social media. They showed several youngsters performing dangerous maneuvers at high speeds on an empty highway. The drivers applied sudden brakes and spun their cars before coming to a halt.

In a similar case last November, Raidurgam police registered cases against 26 bikers for racing and performing stunts. Their bikes were seized, and the accused must appear in court and pay fines to reclaim their vehicles.

Reports of dangerous stunts with cars and motorcycles have increased in recent months. Citizens have expressed concerns about the public nuisance caused by these stunts and the risks posed to fellow road users.

In response to public complaints, police have stepped up patrolling on the ORR and in areas like Raidurgam, Gachibowli, Madhapur, and Hitech and are swiftly taking action against street racing and stunts.
