Duo caught with OG Kush worth around Rs. 40 lakh near Kacheguda railway station

Hyderabad: The Excise Enforcement officials arrested two persons involved in drug peddling and seized a huge amount of high-end drug known as ‘OG Kush’ and other narcotic substances worth Rs. 40 lakh from their possession.

The arrested duo has been identified as Prateesh Bhatt and Chandra Palaka Jayasuriya. The excise officials have seized 500 grams of OG Kush, one kg of ganja, six grams of charas, 4.38 grams of hash synthetic drug and five foreign liquor bottles, all valued over Rs. 40 lakh from them. The arrested individuals have been remanded to judicial custody and investigation is underway.

Sharing the details with media on Wednesday, the Excise Enforcement Joint Commissioner Syed Yasin Qureshi said based on credible inputs, the excise team headed by Sub-Inspector Sandhya intercepted a Skoda car and bike at Kacheguda railway station and found that the accused persons were transporting the drugs.

According to Jt. Commissioner Qureshi, Prateesh, a supervisor at a private firm, was allegedly selling narcotics to buyers. He was reportedly selling OG Kush at Rs. 3,000 per gram. The excise official said the accused persons procured the substance from Karnataka and supplied them to software professionals in the city.

Qureshi further stated that the OG Kush variety of marijuana is different from the ganja normally cultivated and sold in India. OG Kush is 25 per cent stronger than regular marijuana and is widely used in foreign countries. Unlike marijuana, OG Kush does not require soil for cultivation, he added.
