Two children get locked in parked car, die of suffocation in Chevella

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, two children died due to asphyxiation after being trapped inside a locked car at Damaragidda in Chevella Mandal of Rangareddy district.

The incident occurred around 1 pm on Monday. The children were identified as five-year-old Tanmaya Sree, daughter of Kavali Venkatesh and Jyoti from Pamena village and four-year-old Abhinaya Sree, daughter of Mahender and Umarani from Sitaramnagar village.

The families had come to Damaragidda village for their relative Telugu Rambabu’s wedding, scheduled to take place on April 30, 2025.

As the elders were busy with the wedding celebrations, the young girls came out of the house and started playing outside. They reportedly entered a nearby parked car after opening its doors. Subsequently, the car doors got locked automatically. As the children did not know how to unlock them and with the windows being rolled up, the children were unable to breathe and died due to suffocation.

When the family members did not find their children outside, they started frantically searching for them. When they checked the parked car, they found the two girls lying unconscious inside the car. The parents rushed them to the Chevella Government Hospital. However, the doctors declared them dead on arrival.
