Hayathnagar highway crash leaves truck driver seriously injured

HYDERABAD: A truck driver sustained serious injuries after the vehicle he was driving rammed into a stationary container truck on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada National Highway in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to police, the speeding truck crashed into the stationary container vehicle from behind near Hayathnagar. The impact left the driver, identified as Sampangi Naveen of Chinna Raviryala village, trapped inside the mangled cabin.
On receiving information, personnel from the Hayathnagar police station and ambulance staff rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation.
“Using cutters, rescue teams managed to pull Naveen out of the cabin after nearly an hour and shifted him to a nearby private hospital with severe injuries,” a police official said. The official added that his condition was stable.
Police launch probe into cause of highway accident
The accident caused heavy traffic congestion on the Hyderabad–Vijayawada highway for some time.
Traffic police diverted vehicles onto the service road to ease congestion and restore traffic flow.
Hayathnagar police are investigating the incident.
