Two Held For Mixing Cheap Liquor In Expensive Bottles At Trops Bar, Ayyappa Society

Hyderabad: On Friday, the Excise Enforcement team apprehended two individuals for adulterating liquor at Trops Bar in the Ayyappa Society area, Hyderabad. The operation led to the seizure of liquor worth Rs. 1.48 lakh.

The incident took place in the Lingampally Prohibition and Excise Station jurisdiction. The Excise team, led by AES Officer Jeevan Kiran, found that the bar had a pending license renewal and had not paid its license fee. This raised suspicions, prompting a detailed inspection by the enforcement team.

During the inspection, two individuals, Sathyanarayana and Puneet Patnaik, were caught red-handed mixing cheaper liquor into expensive liquor bottles. Specifically, they were found adding Rs. 1,000-worth Oaksmith liquor into Rs. 2,690-worth Jameson bottles.

In total, 75 adulterated bottles and 55 empty bottles were seized. It was also discovered that the bar had been sourcing expensive liquor from other outlets and mixing it with cheaper liquor to sell at inflated prices.

A case has been filed against the bar’s license holder, Udyakumar Reddy, manager V. Sathyanarayana Reddy, and employee Puneet Patnaik. The investigation has been handed over to the Lingampally Excise Station.

The enforcement team included Excise Enforcement CI Subhash Chandra Rao, SI Venkateshwarlu, and constables Sudhakar, Kishan, Srinivas, Sudeep Reddy, Pentareddy, and Durga Shyam Prasad. The Excise Enforcement Directorate, along with Deputy Commissioner P. Dasharath and Assistant Commissioner R. Kishan, congratulated the team for successfully cracking the case.
