Actor Trisha says, “My life has zero meaning” after Zorro’s death

Hyderabad: Actress Trisha Krishnan, known for her work in Tamil and Telugu cinema, announced the passing of her beloved pet dog, Zorro, on Christmas morning, December 25, 2024.

The actress shared the news on social media, expressing her deep sorrow, writing, “My son Zorro passed away early this Christmas morning. For those who know me well, my life has zero meaning henceforth. My family and I are broken and in a state of shock. I will be taking some time off work and will be off the radar.”

Trisha also posted a series of photos documenting Zorro’s life from 2012 to 2024, paying tribute to the years they spent together.

In the wake of this loss, Trisha has decided to step away from her professional commitments and take a break from the public eye to grieve privately.

Trisha Krishnan’s Career

Trisha Krishnan, born May 4, 1983, in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, is one of the most recognized actresses in South Indian cinema. She rose to prominence after winning the 1999 Miss Chennai pageant, which led her to a successful acting career. Over the years, Trisha has earned the title “Queen of South India” for her significant contributions to Tamil and Telugu films.

She made her acting debut in the 1999 Tamil film Jodi, before landing her first lead role in Mounam Pesiyadhe (2002). Trisha’s career gained momentum with hits like Saamy (2003), Ghilli (2004), and Aaru (2005) in Tamil, and Varsham (2004), Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana (2005), Athadu (2005), and Aadavari Matalaku Ardhalu Verule (2007) in Telugu. These films earned her critical acclaim and multiple awards, including three Filmfare Awards for Best Actress – Telugu.

Trisha made her Hindi debut with Khatta Meetha (2010) and later starred in films such as Abhiyum Naanum (2008), Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (2010), Kodi (2016), 96 (2018), and the Ponniyin Selvan series (2022-2023), where her performances were widely praised. Her role in Kodi won her the Filmfare Critics’ Best Actress (Tamil) award, while her performance in 96 earned her the Filmfare Best Actress (Tamil) award.

Her highest-grossing film to date is the 2023 action thriller Leo.

Early Life and Education

Trisha was born to Krishnan Iyer and Uma Iyer in a Tamil Palakkad Iyer family. She completed her schooling at Sacred Heart Matriculation School in Chennai and later pursued a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) at Ethiraj College for Women. Initially aspiring to become a criminal psychologist, Trisha entered the entertainment industry after winning the Miss Salem pageant in 1999 and the Miss Chennai title that same year.

Her first exposure to the industry was through modeling and a role in Falguni Pathak’s music video Meri Chunar Udd Udd Jaye (2000). Although she initially resisted a career in acting, Trisha eventually took on a role in Lesa Lesa (2003), marking the start of her successful acting career.

While balancing her acting career, Trisha also managed to complete her education, attending summer classes to keep up with her studies while shooting.

As Trisha mourns Zorro’s death, fans and colleagues from the film industry have offered their condolences and support.
