Treasure trove of prehistoric artifacts found in Kolanupaka: KTCB

Hyderabad: Prehistoric tools and artifacts of the early Satavahana period were discovered at Kolanupaka village of Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district of Telangana. Kolanupaka is a temple town of historical importance and it also houses a famous Jain shrine.
A team of historians of Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam (KTCB) found these tools and artifacts in the agricultural land owned by a person identified as Mittapalli Bhaskar and located at Gudigadda in Kolanupaka.
Sharing details about the discovery, Sriramoju Haragopal told the Hyderabad Mail that the antiquities include Neolithic (6000 years) stone, Megalithic (4000 years) Black and Red Ware, Early Historic (2000 years) Black Ware, Red Ware pottery, Satavahana broken terracotta figurine, beads, Shell used as money (Vishnukundin’s period) cowries, stone pestles, sand stones, the top of Visururai and heaps of pottery shells.
It is reported that there are stone age tombs on the way to Pochannapet. Similarly, members of the Kotha Telangana Charitra Brundam including Sriramoju Haragopal, Kunde Ganesh, Mudavat Ravinder, Mittapalli Bhaskar, Megharaj, Manjula, Harshit, Rishita have also identified Megalithic era tombs in the neighboring village of Lakshmakkapalle.
Recently, the historians of KTCB had found a 13th-century Kakatiya dynasty Telugu inscription during their inspection of the Kolanupaka Someswara temple in the region. The inscription is incomplete as the statute pillar was hidden under the wall of the temple.
