Travel agency manager shot in Afzalgunj, Hyderabad police link incident to Bidar robbery gang

Hyderabad: An investigation is underway after a manager at a travel agency in Hyderabad was injured when two unidentified men fired at him during a luggage check at Afzalgunj on Thursday evening.
The suspects, who had come to book tickets to Raipur, Chhattisgarh, at Roshan Travels, were reportedly carrying a large sum of cash. During the booking process, Jahangir, a helper at the agency, checked their luggage and discovered the money.
Upon realizing he had been caught, one of the suspects drew a firearm and shot at Jahangir, injuring him before fleeing the scene. Jahangir was later taken to a hospital and is now in stable condition.
Hyderabad police suspect the attackers are the members of the notorious Bidar robbery gang. Special teams have been formed, and efforts are underway to track down the suspects with the help of CCTV footage.
According to Dr. B. Balaswami, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), East Zone, two constables from Bidar were on the same bus but did not recognize the suspects, as they may have been traveling for a separate case.
This incident follows a daylight robbery in Bidar, where these two armed men fired six shots at security personnel and made off with ₹93 lakh in cash intended for an ATM loading at the District Collectorate. The robbery, which took place around 11:30 a.m. at Shivaji Chowk, was captured on CCTV. One security guard was killed, and another was injured in the attack. Later, they fled to Hyderabad.
In response to the ongoing investigation, police have set up checkposts across Hyderabad city and are conducting thorough inspections at bus stations, railway stations, and lodges. Authorities are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend the robbers. Further updates are expected soon.
