Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has proposed an employment opportunity for transgender individuals to help streamline traffic management.

Speaking at the state secretariat on September 13, 2024, CM Revanth Reddy highlighted the need for job opportunities for the transgender community, suggesting they could take on roles similar to home guards. He instructed officials to gather details of those interested in participating.

Additionally, Chief Minister Revanth Reddy reviewed the progress of road and footpath maintenance within Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) limits.

He expressed dissatisfaction with negligent contractors and demanded that all works be completed within the stipulated deadlines. A comprehensive report on underperforming contractors is expected within 15 days, and strict action is promised against officials providing false reports.

Revanth Reddy appeals for flood relief and long-term prevention measures

Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy engaged with a central team to discuss the extensive damage caused by recent floods in the state.

During the meeting, Revanth Reddy highlighted the severe impact of the floods and the need for immediate financial aid and urged the central government to formulate a comprehensive action plan for long-term flood prevention.

Among his key proposals was the construction of a retaining wall for the Khammam Munneru River, aimed at mitigating future flood risks. The Chief Minister also called for the creation of a permanent fund dedicated to flood mitigation measures, and sustained investment is needed to address and prevent flood-related issues.

Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, GHMC Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi, MLA Jaiveer Reddy, Chief Secretary Shanti Kumari, and other senior officials attended the meeting.
