Traffic advisory for 5K run on International Women’s Day in Hyderabad

Hyderabad City Police will be hosting a 5K run on March 8, 2025, at Peoples Plaza to celebrate International Women's Day. To accommodate the event, traffic diversions will be in place between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. affecting traffic flow around Peoples Plaza, Necklace Rotary, and Secretariat Junction. The diversions will redirect traffic coming from Tank Bund, Minister Road, Panjagutta, Raj Bhavan, Ambedkar Statue, and Iqbal Minar towards alternative routes. The police are advising commuters to expect congestion around the affected areas and to plan their routes accordingly. Once the run concludes, the diversions will be lifted.

Hyderabad: As part of the International Women’s Day celebrations, a 5K run will be organized by the Women Safety Wing of Hyderabad City Police at Peoples Plaza on March 8, 2025. To ensure smooth conduct of the event, the following traffic diversions will be implemented on a need basis from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m.:

1. Peoples Plaza

Traffic Diversion/Halt Point: Buddha Bhavan / Nallagutta X Road

Telangana's Praja Palana for Ration, Health Cards

Telangana to begin Praja Palana for Ration, Health Cards in September for 10 days

Traffic Coming From: Tank Bund / Minister Road

Traffic Heading Towards: P.V. N.R. Marg (Necklace Road)

Diversion: Traffic will be diverted towards Karbala and Ranigunj.

2. Necklace Rotary

Traffic Diversion/Halt Point: Necklace Rotary / VV Statue

Traffic Coming From: Panjagutta & Raj Bhavan

Traffic Heading Towards: NTR Marg & P.V. N.R. Marg (Necklace Road)

Diversion: Traffic will be diverted towards Imax and Mint Lane road. For the VV Statue, traffic will be diverted to Shadan & Nirankari.

3. Secretariat Junction (Telugu Talli Junction)

Traffic Diversion/Halt Point: Telugu Talli Junction / Secretariat North East Gate

Traffic Coming From: Ambedkar Statue & Iqbal Minar

Traffic Heading Towards: NTR Marg

Diversion: Traffic will be diverted towards Mint Lane.

Traffic Congestion Zones

During the event, the following junctions will experience congestion due to the traffic diversions: Buddha Bhavan, Nallagutta X Road, Necklace Rotary and Secretariat Junction (Telugu Talli).

Commuters are advised to avoid these areas between 6:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. and use alternate routes. Traffic diversions and road closures will be lifted once the run concludes. All citizens are requested to plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
