Padi Kaushik Reddy attacked with tomatoes as Congress & BRS workers clash in Kamalapur

Hyderabad: Tensions flared at a gram sabha held in Kamalapur village, Huzurabad Assembly Constituency, on Friday, January 24, 2025, when Congress and BRS workers clashed during the event. The gram sabha, organized to receive applications for four welfare schemes, including the Indiramma housing scheme, turned chaotic as both groups threw tomatoes and chairs at each other.
The confrontation began when BRS MLA Padi Kaushik Reddy, who attended the event, questioned officials about the Indiramma housing scheme. He pointed out that the previous BRS government had provided double-bedroom houses to the poor. Congress workers interrupted his remarks, leading to a heated argument between the two sides.
As the situation escalated, Congress workers threw tomatoes at Kaushik Reddy, while BRS workers responded by hurling chairs at Congress leaders. The disruption continued until police intervened, managing to separate the two groups and escort the MLA to safety.
The Congress cadres alleged that offensive language was used during the exchange, while videos of the incident circulated on social media.
Earlier this month, Padi Kaushik Reddy was arrested by Karimnagar police on January 13, 2025, near the Jubilee Hills checkpost. The arrest was in connection with a case registered in Karimnagar. Police had been waiting for him to leave a panel discussion at a TV channel in Jubilee Hills before taking him into custody.
Kaushik Reddy had been involved in a heated exchange with Jagtial MLA Dr. Sanjay Kumar during a review meeting in Karimnagar on January 12, 2025. The verbal confrontation escalated when Kaushik Reddy allegedly used abusive language against Dr. Sanjay, leading to a police intervention. The incident was captured on video and widely shared on social media.
Following the meeting, Kaushik Reddy criticized the state government, claiming it had failed to fulfill its promises to farmers, particularly regarding the Rythu Bharosa scheme. He argued that farmers in Karimnagar had not received the promised financial assistance, despite the state government’s assurances.
