Housemaid held for stealing gold ornaments worth ₹5 lakh in Tolichowki

HYDERABAD: Tolichowki police on December 6, 2025, arrested a woman domestic worker for allegedly stealing gold ornaments weighing about 45 grams from her employer’s flat and recovered the entire property, valued at around ₹5,00,000.
Police said the theft came to light on December 4 when Iqbal Ahmed, a resident of Flat 1008, D-Block, Satva Magnus, complained that his wife Raana Tabassum noticed several gold items missing from their bedroom cupboard while preparing for a family event.
According to the complaint, the missing items included one gold chain with pendant, a pair of gold earrings, one single gold earring, a gold ring with diamond and four gold bangles. Based on the complaint, police registered a case under Section 306 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Accused traced to jewellery shop
While working on clues, police received information around 08.00 IST on December 6 about a suspicious woman at OM Jewellers, Tolichowki. The team verified her and found gold ornaments in her possession. She allegedly avoided answering questions about the items.
During questioning, the woman Madhuri Anuradha, 39, a housemaid living in MG Nagar near Pochamma Temple, Government Children School area reportedly admitted to stealing the ornaments from the complainant’s residence, where she had been employed for the past few months. Police said she took the jewellery for “easy money”.
Police credit quick detection to coordinated effort
The case was detected by SHO L Ramesh Naik, Addl Inspector G Balraj, Sub-Inspector G Raghavendra and the Crime Team of Tolichowki police station, under the supervision of ACP Syed Fiaz. Police said their swift and coordinated work led to the immediate arrest and full recovery of stolen property.
