TJUDA continues Strike, demands action to prevent violence against doctors

Hyderabad: Telangana Junior doctors association(T-JUDA) continued their protest at the 125-feet tall statue of Dr B R Ambedkar on the banks of Hussainsagar on Tuesday. T-JUDA initiated strike in response to unfortunate incident of Sexual assault and murder of a 2nd year postgraduate of chest medicine at RGKAR hospital, Kolkata.
On Tuesday, TJUDA protests entered Eighth day. Scores of junior doctors joined the protest holding placards ‘ No Merary to Rapist’, ‘ Stop violence’.Earlier on Monday TJUDA met Telangana Health MInister Damodar Rajanarsimha and put up demands to prevent such tragic incidents from happening in telangana.
Some of the demands are Implementation of Special Protection Force (SPF) Act As per GO.Ms 103 in all Govt general and teaching hospitals of Telangana, Request the central government to implement the ‘Prevention of violence against healthcare professionals and clinical establishments bull, 2022’, also known as the Central protection Act forr doctors which was introduced in Lok Sabha in 2022,but the legislation is yet to be enacted.
Further to ensure provision of duty rooms to on duty residents and doctors at all government general and teaching hospitals and restrooms specially for female on duty doctors at all govt general and teaching hospitals.
And Installation of CCTV in the entire hospital/ institution premises with a centralized control room to monitor. deployment of a security person in this control room to monitor each and every corner of the hospital and in case of a crowd gathering should alert the police out post and nearest security person.
