TJUDA slams RMPs & PMPs, calls for stricter action against ‘Quackery’

Hyderabad: Telangana Junior Doctors Association (T-JUDA) came down heavily on Registered and Private Medical practitioners(RMPs and PMPs) protesting at Indira Park, Hyderabad, on Monday and opposed their demands for legal recognition. In a statement released by TJUDA, they ‘strongly’ condemned the support from former Health Minister T. Harish Rao, other politicians, and officials.
Terming them as ‘illegal’ quacks, TJUDA alleged that they don’t have medical qualifications or certification to treat patients. These ‘fraudulent doctors’ are already wreaking havoc on public health by recklessly prescribing high-dose steroids, incomplete antibiotic courses and unscientific treatments, leading to drug resistance and an impending health crisis. Their incompetence is creating a silent epidemic, pushing the healthcare system to the brink and placing a massive financial burden on the government, read the statement released by TJUDA.
TJUDA reprimanded RMP’s demand to halt the TGMC raids
One of the primary demands of RMP reportedly includes stopping raids by the Telangana State Medical Council (TGMC), preventing legal action, and halting arrests. TJUDA termed their demand as ‘an audacious attempt’ to escape accountability for their dangerous, life-threatening practices.
According to Section 34 of the NMC Act, only registered medical practitioners are allowed to practice medicine. Section 54 of the NMC Act criminalizes offenses such as quackery and medical practice by unregistered people, which should be brought into notice by the concerned authorized officer from the state medical council. The TGMC is the concerned authority in Telangana state to raid and file a complaint, hence the TGMC team is simply doing its duty. These quacks are violating the law, read the statement.
TJUDA demanded the Department of Health and the Law Department to impose stricter laws, initiate immediate arrests, and take harsher action against these quacks and their supporters.
