Manikonda Three Killed In Puppalaguda Fire Due To Smoke Inhalation

Hyderabad: Three people tragically lost their lives due to smoke inhalation in a fire that broke out in the Puppalaguda area of Manikonda, Hyderabad, on Friday evening, February 28, 2025. The fire, caused by a short circuit, started in the parking area of a two-story building, burning two cars and filling the structure with thick smoke.

The victims have been identified as Jameela Khatun (65), Shahana Khatun (30), and Shiraj Khatoon (4). The three were on the first floor of the building when thick smoke engulfed the structure. In an attempt to escape, they locked themselves inside a room, but the lack of ventilation caused them to lose consciousness and subsequently die.

Fire and HYDRAA DRF teams were called to the scene for rescue operations. Regional Fire Officer Jayaprakash confirmed that the victims’ deaths were a result of smoke inhalation. He also issued a warning that inhaling carbon monoxide could lead to loss of consciousness and be fatal.

Regional Fire Officer Jayaprakash advised that when fire spreads, people should exit the building as quickly as possible. If this is not feasible, they should move to the top floor and wait for help. He said that during a fire, people should use stairs, not lifts, and warned that even a small amount of smoke could cause loss of consciousness over time.

While the fire did not spread to the first floor, the thick smoke was enough to claim the victims’ lives.
