Thief passes out after binge drinking during heist at liquor shop in Narsingi mandal

Hyderabad: A thief, in the Narsingi Mandal area of Medak District, Telangana, attempted a robbery late at night on December 29, 2024. However, during the heist, he drank so much alcohol from the liquor shop that he became extremely intoxicated and passed out. As a result, he was found and caught at the scene of the crime the next morning.
According to reports, the thief gained entry into Kanakadurga Wines by removing the roof tiles. He intended to steal cash, disable the CCTV cameras, and make a quick escape. He managed to steal some cash and the hard disk from the security system before his attention shifted to the liquor bottles on display.
Unable to resist, the thief began drinking and quickly became heavily intoxicated. He passed out on the shop floor, surrounded by spilled liquor and scattered cash.
The next morning, the shop owner arrived to open the store and was shocked to find the unconscious thief lying inside. The owner immediately contacted the police.
Sub-Inspector Ahmed Mohinuddin and his team arrived at the scene and took the thief into custody. Due to his severe intoxication, the thief remained unconscious and was transported to Ramayampeta Government Hospital for treatment. By late evening, he had still not regained consciousness, preventing police from identifying him.
A case has been registered, and authorities are waiting for the thief to recover before proceeding with the investigation.
