TGSRTC launches 60 new electric buses in Hyderabad

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) on Wednesday launched 60 new electric buses from the Kukatpally depot in Hyderabad.
Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and TGSRTC Managing Director Y. Nagi Reddy flagged off the buses in the presence of senior officials.
Addressing the gathering, Prabhakar said the state government was expanding electric mobility to curb pollution levels in Hyderabad.
“We are bringing electric buses so that Hyderabad does not become another Delhi in terms of pollution,” he said.
The minister said 540 electric buses were already operating in Hyderabad, while nearly 1,000 electric buses were running across Telangana.
He said the government would soon conduct recognition elections for RTC trade unions. The process of merging RTC with elected unions would also begin shortly, he added.
Prabhakar said the government would implement the Pay Revision Commission (PRC) for RTC employees and take further measures for workers’ welfare.
