TGSRTC to enable bus ticket booking via Google Maps

HYDERABAD: Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) is set to make bus ticket booking and fare payments easier by integrating its services with Google Maps.
Google Maps to show RTC buses, enable instant bookings
Currently, passengers must reserve tickets online through the RTC website or at bus stand counters. Soon, they will be able to view real-time information on RTC buses directly on Google Maps and make instant reservations.
Once implemented, passengers can open Google Maps on their mobile phones, enter their destination, select the bus, pay online, and instantly receive an e-ticket. This feature will cover both reserved and non-reserved services.
Hyderabad rollout first, district buses next
The RTC management has prepared a list of Telangana and inter-state services to share with Google. IT department sources said information about Hyderabad city buses was recently provided to Google, which is currently testing the feature.
The service is expected to go live for passengers within two to three weeks. It will first cover Hyderabad city buses, followed by district services.
Tap-to-pay system for faster ticketing
RTC already allows card payments in buses, but passengers must enter a PIN, which causes delays during rush hours. To address this, RTC plans to introduce a tap-to-pay system where passengers can simply tap their credit or debit cards on the ticket machine to complete payment.
The system is expected to roll out within a week, starting with air-conditioned buses to the airport. It will later expand to city and long-distance services.
