TGSRTC expands digital payments

Hyderabad: Expanding the digital payment system across the state, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) announced on Friday that the passengers of Palle Velugu and Express buses can now buy the tickets using a Quick Response (QR) code facility.

Passengers of Palle Velugu and Express buses can use various digital payment platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, QR code, Credit Card, and Debit Card for buying their bus tickets.

Currently, people are using the UPI/QR payments to avail the parcel and cargo services at the Jubilee Bus Station (JBS). Students are using this facility at the bus pass counters in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The state RTC had introduced the digital payment facility for unreserved tickets through general booking counters across 14 stations under Secunderabad Division.

It is a common sight in the RTC buses with passengers arguing with the conductor over exact change. As a temporary measure, the state road transport organization had introduced the rounding-off system for the bus fare. If the bus fare was Rs. 12, the passenger was allowed to pay Rs. 10 while passengers with a Rs. 13 or Rs. 14 ticket were required to shell out Rs. 15.
