Women’s commission summons actor Shivaji over controversial remarks

HYDERABAD: The Telangana State Commission for Women (TGSCW) has initiated a suo motu case against Tollywood actor and Big boss contestant Shivaji, summoning him to appear before it for an inquiry into alleged derogatory comments made about women.
The commission noted the actor’s statement at a promotional event for his upcoming film, Dhandora, on December 22, 2025. The remarks went viral on social media and news platforms, sparking condemnation.
In an official notice dated December 23, the Commission stated it found the statement derogatory to women in general and especially to the women of Telangana.
The notice from TGSCW Commission Chairperson Nerella Sharadha further reads, “Having found the prima facie, you have made such a statement deliberately with the intention to defame the women in society. This commission has taken suo motu cognizance.”
Acting under Section 16(1)(b) of The Telangana Women’s Commission Act, 1998, the commission has directed the actor to appear in person for an enquiry. He must be present at the Commission’s Secunderabad office on December 27, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with any relevant documents related to the event and his statement.
A copy of the summons has also been sent to the Station House Officer of the Lake Police Station for information.
The Commission’s swift action follows public backlash. Telangana State Commission for Women Chairperson Nerella Sharadha shared the notice, adding to the call for action.
