Tgmc Inspects 12 Facilities In Kalwakurthy, Amangal; Legal Action Planned

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Medical Council (TGMC) detected several cases of alleged unauthorised practice of modern medicine during surprise inspections at 12 facilities in Kalwakurthy and Amangal mandals on October 2. The council said it would take legal action wherever applicable, as reported by DC.

TGMC members Dr G Srinivas and Dr Imran Ali carried out the inspections. The council alleged that people without the required qualifications or authorisation were prescribing or giving allopathic treatment.

The inspected facilities included K. Swamy Homeo Care & Clinic, Sri Lakshmi Clinic, Life Care Polyclinic, Pranith Clinic, Sri Vijaya Clinic, JJ Health Clinic, Swapna Clinic, Sai Tirumala Diagnostic Centre, Soujanya Nursing Home, Mother Theresa First Aid Centre, Mahalakshmi Hospital and Sri Ram Clinic.

The council said its teams found or noted the use of antibiotics, antifungal medicines, dexamethasone injections, painkillers, steroids and intravenous fluids at some facilities. It also alleged that Life Care Polyclinic did not dispose of biomedical waste properly.

TGMC alleged that Ramesh at JJ Health Clinic practised under another person’s name. It also alleged that J.C. Singh, BAMS, at Swapna Clinic prescribed medicines in the name of an MBBS doctor.

The council further alleged that Sai Tirumala Diagnostic Centre issued laboratory reports without review by qualified specialists.

Dr Srinivas said the council had started action under Section 22 of the TMPR Act and Sections 34 and 54 of the National Medical Commission (NMC) Act, wherever applicable.

“No unauthorised or unqualified person practising Modern Medicine anywhere in the state will be spared,” he said.
