TGHRC Orders Enquiries Into Two Alleged Rights Violations
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Human Rights Commission (TGHRC) has taken cognisance of two separate complaints alleging serious human rights violations and issued directions for enquiry.
In the first case (SR No. 3,336/2025), the complaint filed by E Satyanarayana alleges that Degala Ramesh, Sub-Inspector of Police, Manthani police station under Ramagundam Commissionerate, assaulted Seelam Raj Kumar on December 7, 2024, at the police station. According to the complaint, the victim attempted suicide the following day and died on September 19, 2025, while undergoing treatment.
Commission seeks SI’s appearance on December 4
The complainant further stated that the SI allegedly intimidated the victim’s family, deployed additional police personnel, and pressured them to cremate the body the same night to prevent unrest.
Observing that the allegations were “serious and require enquiry”, the Commission directed summons to SI Degala Ramesh to appear on December 4, 2025, and asked the complainant to be present the same day.
Karimnagar official told to respond in suicide case
In the second case (SR No. 3,339/2025), the Commission took cognisance of a complaint received by post alleging that V Laxmi Rajam died by suicide on October 25, 2025, due to alleged harassment, threats and illegal demands from officials of the Town Planning Department of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation.
Taking a serious view, the Commission directed its office to call for a response from Syed Khadar, Town Planning Building Officer (TPBO), and posted the matter for December 11, 2025.
