TGCSB refunds Rs. 7.9 crore cyber fraud money during Lok Adalat
HYDERABAD: The Telangana Government Cyber Security Bureau (TGCSB) achieved a major milestone in combatting cybercrimes on Saturday. Working together with the Telangana Government Legal Services Authority (TGLSA), the TGCSB effectively helped in securing the return of a significant sum of money that was lost due to cyber fraud. This milestone was reached by the different districts and commissionerates of the Telangana Police during the Lok Adalat on Saturday.
Telangana continues to lead in freezing and reclaiming victims’ money from fraudsters’ bank accounts. This success is a testament to the prompt and coordinated actions of the TGCSB Call Centre and NCRP Monitoring Officers, who handle financial cybercrime reports efficiently.
Key Achievements
The key achievements included filing 4,144 cases and successfully refunding 2,973 cases. The total amount refunded was Ra.7.9 crores. However, 1,171 cases remain pending for disposal in Lok Adalat. This impressive feat of processing and refunding such a large number of cases in a single day through the national Lok Adalat is a historic milestone for the TGCSB.
In March, the TGCSB and TGLSA successfully cleared 803 cases through Lok Adalat, resulting in the refund of approximately ₹ 3.66 crore to victims. Building on this success, the June 8th mega Lok Adalat saw an even more substantial achievement.
Public advisory
In order to prevent cyber fraud, the TGCSB provides these recommendations: Avoid interacting with unfamiliar callers or senders of messages. Refrain from clicking on links sent by unfamiliar individuals. Guard your data by refraining from disclosing personal or banking details or OTPs. Protect your privacy on social media by ensuring your profiles are set to private. Immediately contact the 1930 helpline if you experience any cybercrime to improve the chance of recovering lost funds.
The TGCSB’s actions and the positive results from the Lok Adalat are a strong indication of the need for vigilance and quick response to combat cybercrime. Citizens should continue to be careful and take initiative in safeguarding their personal and financial information.
