8 individuals test positive for drugs in TGANB-Cyberabad police raid in Madhapur

Hyderabad: On the night of December 29, 2024, the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TGANB), along with Cyberabad Police, conducted a raid at Quake Arena in Madhapur to prevent drug use at a public event. The operation followed credible intelligence received on December 28, which indicated that drugs could be used at the venue. A special team of 22 officers was formed to carry out the operation.
Internationally recognized German DJ Ben Bohmer and his team were also tested but were cleared as drug-free. This testing was conducted as part of a requirement from the Cyberabad Commissioner of Police to ensure a drug-free environment at the event.
Zero-Tolerance Policy for Underage Drinking
TGANB has directed all pubs and bars in Telangana to display clear notices stating their zero-tolerance policy toward drugs and underage drinking. Any violations will lead to strict legal action. The pub involved in this operation, though located near a school, did not display a required notice about underage drinking.
New Year Celebrations and Future Operations
With New Yearโs Eve approaching, TGANB has warned that similar operations will be conducted at parties and events across Telangana. Stringent action will be taken against anyone caught using or distributing drugs.
Public Appeal
TGANB is urging event organizers, as well as the public, to avoid drugs. A drug-free lifestyle is essential for individual and community well-being. Those with information about drug activity can report it confidentially to TGANBโs toll-free number, 1908.
